Citrus woes

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

These images and questions come courtesy of Mrs. VV. I'm a woeful underachiever when it comes to southern fruiting plants.

I've also posted this in the ID forum here:

What ails this Meyer Lemon tree? What can be done to help it?

She is ready and willing to provide more images/information...

VV, Meyers need to keep feet dry, watered every day. They have a citrus soil bagged for them. Also fertilizer esp made to citrus. Mine yellow at end of season being really susceptible to temp and weather changes. If your roots were soggy, the yellow would start in the veins. If the fertilizer was wrong, the tips of the leaves would brown. Grasshoppers chow down on the leaves. Tiny bugs suck the saps, neem oil washed off after may help, but I would expect Ky humidity, or lack of, to be a major factor. I know we get a black mold on them a lot farther south, doesnt seem to hurt them, but the smaller plants get a wipe. Hopefully someone who actually deals with these can focus in here for you. (Cool temps is my bet, mine go bare and I am in NW Houston area). That water laying on the leaves could have damaged them, too

Thank you, kitt - sounds like Murphy's Law of growing Citrus (everything that can go wrong, will...).

Good to hear from you! How are you faring in the wet wilds of Texas?

Watering already. Cool weather hit and 60* has me digging out my sweatpants. I THINK I like retiring, just haven't dug in and freshed up on plants. Hopefully retirement won't bring ol folks disease, chuckl

Do you mean...we won't any longer be regaled with stories from the road?

I will really miss the ID quizzes from interstate rest stops and other wild locales that everyday gardeners never see. I hope you will still get out and about from time to time.

I always hoped that someday, I'd be traveling in the same corridor that you were heading through...

My stories got tunneled into locked routes and I missed the freedom of earlier farther roaming travels. Perhaps you'll travel thru my area yet...
