I planted a baby butterfly bush my brother gave me from one of his volunteers last year. This year it was still very short but looked like it was doing well. My well meaning neighbor mowed it down by mistake. Will it come back and be ok? It looks to be putting out new shoots.
Help! Neighbor mows down Butterfly Bush
Butterfly shrubs can likewise be engendered by stem cuttings. In pre-summer and late-spring take a 4-to 6-inch long cutting of another stem once the stem is sufficiently durable to not twist.
Prune in spring, after the new boom emerges. Many humans reduce their butterfly bush returned in autumn, as a part of their fall smooth up. But specifically in bloodless climates, this will depart your butterfly bush greater prone to damage over winter. Do now not prune until you see inexperienced buds on the stems. Make your cuts simply above wherein big, wholesome leaf buds have formed. It can take numerous weeks into spring for brand spanking new growth to show up - be patient and face up to the urge to cut them returned too early.
