My Jade plant is about 15 years old- potted and kept indoors in a well-lit northern NJ sun room. Its about 3 feet tall and the trunks are about 3.5 " diameter. I would like to re-pot it into a more upright position- my problem is the two trunks are opposing horizontally in opposite directions. Should I just dig it out, cut it in half, and stake it in a vertical position with a hard pruning? Should I go for two plants or keep it as one? (I know, I waited way too long to take this on)...any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank-you.
Advice on re-potting an overgrown jade plant.
You will get more than two plants if you take it apart. be sure to let the cut ends dry off before you repot them. Stake the larger pieces upright. When they have rooted be sure you turn the plant frequently, every 10 days or so. Jades grow to the outside light inside. Trim off all dead bits and you should be good to go.
Good luck,
Martha
