Perennial to grow through dense declining daffodil foliage

Knox, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi - newbie here. I have a couple of dense patches of daffodils with foliage that is just now beginning to die back, this is mid-June in zone 5b. What might be strong enough to grow through this OR something that doesn't begin to break dormancy until now? I have an excess of coneflowers, daylilies, tall lilies and butterfly weed in those areas, already blooming, so those are out. Thanks in advance.
