A friend here in sw Florida recently showed me a plant that has just appeared in her garden . Unfortunately, I don,t have a photo, but here is a description: a small bulb that produces onion-like foliage and tiny pale purple orchid-like flowers on a long stalk. Any ideas?
Plant id needed
Hi. It sounds like Chinese Crown Orchid.....first noted in 2007 in South Florida. Often found growing in mulch. I think it's classed as a Florida invasive now. Easy to pull up though. I found quite a few a few years ago in my yard in S.W. florida, but haven't seen them for a year or so now. I use a lot of mulch (bagged Vita Mulch), and suspect it arrived in that, I'm not too worried about it, since it's so easy to pull up.
It could be a Grass Pink orchid. I have not seen any in years
Could be chives or society garlic, if you had a picture of the flower we would know for sure.
