This tree was by the shoreline in Quincy, MA. The folded over leaves intrigued me. Any guesses on this?

Thanks. Is this considered an invasive? It was on an overgrown path so perhaps it was planted on purpose (a long time ago).
Doubtful that it would be considered an invasive, but certainly very commonly planted on purpose, and typically long-lived.
