I've tried many ornamental peppers in past years. Ere now my favorite was Fish–nice variegated leaves and a small hot pepper I used in chile and stir-fries. This year I tried Sweet Pickle Peppers and it's my new go-to ornamental. Plants are a little over a foot wide and tall and are bursting with red, yellow, orange and violet fruit that look like Christmas tree lights sticking up where you can't help but see them. I tried them both in 1 gallon pots and in the ground and both have colored up my border all through August and show no signs of quitting. They are edible, but the "sweet" in the name just means no heat, they were definitely not as sweet as cultivars like Gypsy or Carmen when I cut them up in salads. I'll try frying or roasting them next.
