What insect is this?

El Cajon, CA

Hi...I'm in Southern California, I have found a few of these guys on my corn plants. I think they are a bit big to be a corn aphid. Any ideas?

Hi Foxybron ~ your picture must be really large because I'm having trouble getting it to load.

You might have better luck with your ID, though, if you post your question on the "Insect and Spider Identification" forum. There tend to be more members that are knowledgeable about insects that visit that thread and it's open to all members.

edited to say: The picture loaded this time and it looks like a grasshopper to me, but I don't see the head.

I'm new here, so thank you for sharing the info!

It's a "baby" grasshopper, as said. No problem loading the picture.

I think the picture loading problem was a temporary glitch. I don't believe it had anything to do with Foxybron's photo.

Foxybron, your picture was fine. And by-the-way, Welcome to DG!
