Elephant Ears - pots or ground?

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

My neighbor gave me a bunch of bulbs with foliage.... I have no idea where i can put these.

Can I do a large pot or will they do best in the ground?

Sun or part shade?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I live in Mount Dora. I have two giant elephant ears that I put directly in the ground, but I think they do well with a deep pot. I did have an issue of bulb rot, in fact the bulb had been almost completely eaten away and I think it was by bacteria. I put a few dollops of Coconut oil around the base of the plant and let it soak into the ground, and months later I have a nice big healthy bulb again.

They stay smaller in a pot, but need a large pot, they do well in a pot. They do like moist soil, so if you have a lower wet shadier spot in garden they will do very good in the ground. They freeze back but come back again in the spring if we get really cold.
