Shop light for seed starting

This is the first time I've used my shop light stand since 2012. Had great results starting seeds for veggies and flowers back then and have it all set up again but now cannot remember what temperature needs to be maintained for germination. Help, please.

I found your post interesting because I've never started seeds indoors so I didn't really think about temperature. Sooo...I decided to do a little research.

I'm sure you'll hear from others that are really experienced in indoor.seed starting, but in the meantime maybe the info below will be some help.

The first is a link from Old Farmers Almanac about starting seeds and they mention temperature as part of their info.

The second is a screen shot from Burpee Seeds showing just the info on temps.

It depends what seeds your starting they have different temperature requirements,

Well... wish I would have kept better record back in 2011-2012 when I started lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and flowers on my 4-shelf shop light stand we built from PVC. In fact, had such great results that I had way too many plants and it was too much work. So sold that 4-shelf stand and only kept a single layer stand. Lots of discussion on DG back then but evidently we cannot access previous discussions going back that many yars. Guess I'll just have to experiment with temp this year and keep better notes.

Here is a thread I found where you mentioned the PVC light stand you built. Your post was December 13, 2010. This is page 5 of the thread so I don't know if there is more helpful info on the other pages.

All the info about your posts and the threads you've started are on your homepage under My Info. At least they are for me and they go back for years. There were some problems with them but I think they have been fixed.

You're right, it has gotten better. I still can't say for sure that it's everything, but it is a lot and it goes back pretty far. For a while there were only a couple of years which was frustrating.

I came across this really cool spreadsheet put together by a DG member in 2009. I plan to save it as I think it could be very useful. Hope it is helpful to you, too.

nutsaboutnature: That spreadsheet is what I had been searching for. Thanks for posting it. Once I had specific words to search for on my computer, there it was !!! Too many files or maybe too many hobbies. LOL.

BTW, you can NEVER have too many hobbies. My biggest problem is storing all the stuff for all my hobbies. :o)

That spreadsheet is at the very top of the Propagation forum. It's a Sticky so it's always there.

The funny thing is that's not how I found it, mainly because of the title, "When to Sow Spreadsheet". I was actually looking in the Community Tags for things related to Temperature. So there it was, right in front of both of us.
