Moving Lilies

Jackson, MO(Zone 6b)

I have some Lilies I purchased a couple of years ago. I'm not necessarily unhappy with them, but the color isn't what I expected. They don't work where I planted them.
I have them amongst other lilies and will not know which ones I need to move until they bloom.
When do you recommend I move them? Any directions?

Try tying a piece of yarn or string around each stem of the ones you wish to move and then do so in the Sept or at least a month after they have bloomed. They are very forgiving, but be prepared for finding them deeper in the ground than you planted them at, as they do pull themselves deeper into the ground with their Tractile roots. A garden fork is the most useful tool. Any bulbs without the string can just be replanted while the other can be moved to a new location. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. Will do!

BB, that is so so smart! And bravo for telling birder about the fork. I massacred several lilies with a shovel before my brain kicked in and I started using a fork.
