Hello, Does anyone have experience gardening close to black walnut trees? I have such problems with vegetables every year. Any suggestions?? cll
Black Walnuts
Black walnuts are one of the woods that block growth of any plants near it. I would need to go research to find the hard data names to give you, but it is one of the woods known to kill others. There are several on this list, I will try to go find them.
Allelopathy, hydrojuglone, this article has a list and explains.

kittriana, Thank-you for your help.
My raspberries tolerated the black walnut. It is my understanding that a few things will tolerate the black walnut, but most will not. I now have some vinning honeysuckle growing on a trellis under my black walnut.
brendak654, Thanks for your reply. I think I'll just plant annual seeds in the old veggie garden. I give up. cll
