JULY BLOOMS 2015
Don't you love getting up and heading for the garden each morning this time of year? It makes all the work9and there's plenty) well worth it. Your pictures are great. We have quite a few of the same cultivars and it's fun to see how they can vary a bit when grown under different conditions.
For example, our Get Jiggy hasn't yet developed that eye pattern that's so marked in yours. Howe long have you had it? Also the red on your Darla Anita is much darker than ours-well at leas it seems so in the picture. Maxfield Parish also seems darker than here. Zip Boom Bah too. Are you using any particular fertilizer?
Thanks,
Don
Don, I use Scotts slow release fertilizer for plants and vegetables. I usually use Milorganite too but I never got around to getting any this year. This is my 5th year of having Get Jiggy. The first couple of blooms usually don't give much of a pattern but now it is starting its pattern and I love it!!! Thanks!!!
Hemlady, you've got a lot of green eyed lovelies. :)
I do like King, Mike
OOH MYYYY GORGEOUS blooms everyone! I am like gingerjar "I like them all"..... that is definitely a problem. My Dad used to say "champayne taste on a beer budget causes problems" .... I think that is where I am on my DL addiction! LOL..... even if I bought all the ones I wanted CHEAP, I would still have a fortune out in my yard! :) Not to mention probably NO space, but at the moment at least, room is more readily available that the champayne funds! LOL
Such beautiful blooms..... nice to sit here in the AC and enjoy your blooms. I still have a few struggling to survive this heat but it is so miserable that it isn't much fun to walk around and look at blooms. I try to water very late in the evenings and the blooms have about had it by then. Supposed to be over a hundred for the next several days...... yesterday was our "cool" day at 94. :( YUCK!
I have a want list at least a mile long now! Had to add some off of this thread of course........wish they still did the big coops and exchanges on DG like they did when I first joined!!
Thanks Iowhen!!!
Beautiful Blooms!
Very beautiful!
Thanks!!!
Cindy I agree with Genna and Robin.
Thanks Mike!!!!
Mike, I am curious.....do you have all your whites in one location? Or do you have them scattered around in different beds?
More beautiful flowers
Got a big box on Monday from Karen aka taylordaylily. I was so surprise of all the stuff that she packed in the box. Soaking in the garage right now. Going to try and plant them this weekend. It's HOT around here with temps ranging from 85 to low nineties.
Here is some I haven't posted yet. Got a well needed passing shower this morning. It's a pity she couldn't stay longer. LOL!
Bermuda Coral
Grandma Kissed Me
On And On - the little energizer bunny!
Illini Maiden
Lilting Lady
Mike, is Carmen Renee a late bloomer. You sent me some last year and it hasn't bloomed for me yet.
Saw and appreciated that spider Mike, but I'm smitten with Illini Maiden. Wow she's dark!
Solar Music looks so clean and refreshing. Is Dynamite Returns really that bright?
Cindy Carmen Renee is a late bloomer.
Robin Dynamite Returns is a little lighter than the pic above.
Here is a true representation of the actual color.
When My Sweetheart Returns - top five mini for me.
Illini Jackpot - Robin you probably love this one too.
Bridgeton Ivy League - the rain just bounce off this one. LOL!
Very nice Mike!!!!
Gorgeous blooms everyone!!
Mike, love that Isolde, Illini Jackpot, and the Mephisopheles - however it is spelled! :) They are so dark! Not sure how they would do in my full sun.
Cindy that Uforistic Galaxy looks so hot pink! Very stunning.... and like that Chicago Firecracker as well!
They are all just gorgeous and a breath of fresh air with these excessive temps we are having! Believe it or not, I still have a few blooming occasionally but I am not sure how with this heat!
Ok, who lives really far up north where it is COOL and wants company??? :) I am even willing to dig daylilies while I visit! LOL ..... I am tired of the high temps already and August is often the worst part. We have pushed 100 every day this week and this is the third day with no AC in my office. It is 90 plus each day by the time I leave ! The heat just zaps any energy!!
Have a great day everyone!
Genna
A co-worker spent some of her vacation time on the Northshore (Lake Superior), and said that it got down to 43 at night. A bit cold even for us. But extreme heat is very rare there.
Cindy, 'Uforistic Galaxy' caught my eye too, it reminds me of a smaller version of 'Persian Market'. Y'all look like you've got DL farms. If so, I want websites and grower names you're listed as.
Mike...yeah well I'm trying to appreciate all the others but like a skipping record (showing my age), just when I'm out of the groove, someone posts another stunning picture and I'm stuck again.
I'll just pretend she's very photogenic...or airbrushed.
Genna, so sorry to hear about your un-air conditioned office, that's got to be brutal.
Gary, 43 degrees sounds pretty darn nice right about now! LOL.....athough after these temps it might feel like 20s! I had to let my dogs out at 3 am yesterday morning (thankfully that is not everynight!) and it was so humid it would just take your breath away. I looked and it was 80 degrees!! Not a good sign........ There was so much moisture in the air that there was a "fog" where the flood lights were shining thru the air. But, my husband said I would be fussing when it got really cold too - and he is right. I just can't handle the extremes anymore. Seems like it bothers me a LOT more than it did when I was younger.
Gary, I am curious, what are your normal daytime temps this time of year? of course, I would NOT like the winter temps!
Thanks Robin..... it's pretty rough because I am COMPLETELY spoiled to AC! But, from lunch on the sun it shining in and makes it really miserable in here. Kinda like being in an oven. :( HOPEFULLY, it will be repaired soon - parts on order but no one has said how long it will be.
LOL, no daylily farm here. I am just a backyard garden and do hybridizing.
