Well Sally must just be flexing her librarian muscles in the fancy word category.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Heeheee, Sally's a Fathead! < =D

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

ROFL!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I have NO clue about many of the things you all talk about! SO--I just ignore it!

BUT--I know many things none of you know either--just because I was around....
and you were yet to be born....:o)

I agree that Riker was fabulous---but, don't forget, the bottomless fan base
out there also gets to vote.
Sometimes the "wrong" dancers get to win--or lose. But--it is only right or wrong
in YOUR mind.

From my perspective--Riker was awesome--doing moves no one else could do.
BUT--Rumer and Val had more quality to their dances--more traditional skills.

Like Len said on the Semi-Finals. " NONE of the 4 competitors deserve to go--
they were ALL THAT good"--and all of them got all "10",s.

SO? WHO decided? The public at large...the fans---all the relatives and
families of---of course. Hey! Donnie Osmond won one year! It only took him
about 6 weeks to be able to grope his woman partner. To dance nose-to-nose
with hungry "I want your body" close to mine looks...I want to ........!!!

The one thing I find a bit hard to digest in the contestant's selection is:

--Every season they have someone in their 60's or 70's---
--someone way overweight--
--someone who won an Olympic Medal 20 years ago....
--some BIG Dude football player who has 3 left feet, and has to learn how to
point his toes and dance.
--Lately--there is also a trend to have someone missing an arm or a leg--and yet he/she
gets almost to the finals because of public support and compassion.
You know--this throws ALL the finer points of judging aside. Lets face it--
you cant throw a woman in the air and catch her just so--with one arm! He did OK, though..

Willow (cute name!) was outstanding for her very young age of 14.
Lets face it! Many of the dances require a great level of physical intimacy
and maturity--and Willow came through all that with 5 stars. Wearing high heels yet....

Mark seems to always get someone that is "doomed" NOT to win for various reasons..
He is so cute and creative, though. I want to take him home and cook him Chicken Soup.

Val will get some gorgeous, leggy sexy girl who thrives on his Russian sexual charm
and his stern discipline to extract all he can from his partners.

etc...etc...etc.....

I still don't care! All the above just ads to the intrigue and charm of this Show.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Speedy---

STOP telling everyone you are an "Old Geezer"!!!!!!!!
50 is just the old 35. You are NOWHERE near "Old".
Now--I can say I am old--because I REALLY am--but I don't think
about myself as an "Old Geezer".....just when it comes to technology.
Then i am lost....
Social media? Nope! Smart phones? Nope--don't have one.
Facebook, texting---Skyping--HUH???? Aps? What are those?
I know what Apes are---and I know what Abs are,,,,But--Aps???
Are they the smaller mountains in Switzerland??? Not grown up yet into Alps?
:o)

Age is all "Mind over Matter"! So is pain and other old age issues.
If I don't mind.........it does not matter....

Age is NOT an excuse for anything---Now--tell my body that! :-o

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Ahem, excuse me Dear Lady, but I don't think I said anything about OLD, just "geezer". < =P All "geezer" means is that I've been on the planet sufficiently long enough to know a few things. < =D

Frederick, MD

I'm 54. If you're a geezer, then you must think I'm an OLD geezer ! hahaha

I agree with Gita. I don't feel old... geez, I've had 4 dates with 3 different women in the last 10 days. Could an old geezer do that ? :)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Speedie---

OK,,,Ok,,,,You are excused!!! The bathroom is the 2nd door to the left....
Did you KNOW that?

:o)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Cam--
YES! An "Old geezer" can do that.....and may continue to do that.....again..and again...
Women are getting more selective.

Just because you had 4 dates with 3 different women in the last 10 days sounds like you lost 3 times....Looks like you had another chance with the 4th one.?

Think positive! G.

Frederick, MD

One of them told me she's "deathly allergic" to cats AFTER I met her for dinner. Ha.

Another just didn't get my blood moving.

And the one I met last night, already have a second date lined up with her. She may be a keeper. She's very sweet and considerate, into gardening, and quite attractive. If only she liked beer and football. Hahahaha

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

I don't know G, last season Mark had Sadie Robinson and she came in second. In season 18 he had Candice Cameron Bure who was 3rd. Maybe he's just had a good run lately. I like him though because he is most creative. I also think it's great they put people with physical challenges in the show. Amy Purdy did awesome last season. I thought she was a great dancer. This season Noah did really well too and had lifted Sharna a couple times in some spectacular lifts.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Nope Cam, you're not an OLD geezer, just a "regular" one. ;) I know I'm not an OLD geezer, but when I think about stuff like "I've been married for TWENTY THREE YEARS".. stuff like that makes me feel old. Where did the time go!?! (yeah, 'look behind you', eh?) ;) Well, here's to hoping you find that "Just Right" lady, beer, football, and all!
' >~l

Frederick, MD

Yeah, I know what you mean, the older we get the faster the years fly by. Remember when you were a kid and the 12 years of school seemed like FOREVER ? Now, how long has it been since... say the movie Anger Management came out ? yep, 12 years.

Oh, I'm going to find a keeper, that's for sure. Not a matter of if, just a matter of when and who. :)

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

If this most recent Lady likes, say, ROOT beer and football, that's cool, right? LOL!!!!! < =D Never give up, "She" could be right around the next corner! =)

Frederick, MD

My date from last night had a Margarita. :) And we'll see, she seems like a possible keeper at the moment. I'll let you know in a few months. And I was joking about liking beer and football. That would be unreasonable expectation. :)

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

I have to confess that I love football and watch it more than most guys I know. You mean most girls don't??? Lol pass on the beer though, yuck. Whiskey and foo foo drinks rock. At least this new girl likes gardening :-)

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Not too much... I love football, though the only beer I like is of the root variety. They are out there! =)

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Yes Aspen, that is a MAJOR Plus for her! =)

Frederick, MD

Yes, she likes gardening, she likes to travel, she likes the same kind of music as I do, and there's a mutual attraction. That's a great start. And hey, she says she likes football games because it means lots of good food and drink and socializing. So its not like she'll nag at me for watching it. LOL

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Yeah, and with that liking of good food maybe she can cook, too! < =D Haahahahaaaaaa, oh dear, I'm gonna get into BIG trouble for that one! < =P

Frederick, MD

HAHAHA... you all are a hoot !

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

My home-made Margaritas are my favorite. Love them, cause they are not
all that acid-- just nicely sweet. Yummy!

In this hot weather--I will have a beer as well as I take a break from
working in my garden. Ice cold is always refreshing.

G.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

I love Margaritas! You're going to make them for the next swap, right Gita??!
I loved your pickles too, by the way...ate every last one...and all of the olives Cam brought...and ssg's fruit salad and all of the other leftovers, except for what we made.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

I know I'm probably the youngest here but time does sure fly. I graduated college 10 years ago! I can't believe it.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Heeheeheee Jeff, you're just knee-high to a grasshopper! < =D

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

10 years out of college...sigh. I'm something like 37 years out, jeeze.

Gita does have a fantastic Margarita recipe. And a very comfy swing on which to drink them. Anybody going by White Marsh oughta look her up.

Day off today, lovely morning, going to cut garden green veggies, some general cleanup...watering something...

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Geez Jeff, 10 years out of college, you sure are getting old LOL. I was a math major, and when I was sitting here trying to think how many years that I've been out of college, it was making my brain hurt trying to do the math in my head. Had to pull up the calculator, what does that say about getting old HA HA HA! Anyway, 32 years for me...

I second the vote for G's margaritas at the fall swap!

Haha, geez you guys have been out of college for longer than I've been alive.... ;-P

I was spraying weeds last night after work, mainly along the pyracantha hedge and I found a poison ivy plant! It was a decent size so I ripped it out but some root remained so I'll have to watch out for regrowth. I also found 4 more poison ivy seedlings. Grr..what the heck? There are a lot of birds that 'play' in the pyracantha and they must be eating poison ivy berries and pooping there.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

HEY! The ingredients for margaritas cost a lot of $$$.
Don't think I will do it. Big bottles of Tequila and triple-sec----$$$
plus 2-3 bottles Jose Cuervo Mixer....$.

Here's a compromise---if you stop by my house--I will fix you one.
AND--You can sit on my shaded Swing and drink it.
Ric and Holly did it! Well--Ric came to help me do something...but....

Holly--when was that? I was trying to find the picture of you and Ric on the swing...

Just a quick stop-over off of I-95. All of 2 miles off at Exit #67.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Why not have everyone who wants a margarita pitch in?

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

good idea Jeff- Gita I thought we were talking about the can of frozen slush and can of beer one. Can you post that one?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Here is the "ersatz" version:

I tried it a few times--and it was OK, but then I went on to mixing it with
all the real ingredients and I was "hooked".
I don't even remember how the below tasted???

Disclaimer----"The comments in the recipe are NOT mine!"
**************************************************************

Margarita Recipe-- from rteets Stroudsburg, PA (DG)

The heat of summer always makes me want a Margarita and this is a recipe that you won't believe. However, if you like them you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

1- 12 oz can frozen limeade
12 oz water
1- 12oz can of beer
12 oz tequila ( I don't like mine too strong so I use about 9 oz)

Just use the limeade can to measure the water and tequila as it is equal parts of everything. This is every bit as good as the expensive mixes you buy and much cheaper. Give it a try.

***********************************************************************

OK! So I tried to "ballpark" the cost and the servings using this recipe.

One big bottle (60oz) of El-cheapo Tequila---------------- $15= ( 5 batches)
One can of frozen Limeade----(one per batch)-- ------~$2.50 per batch
One 30 pack case of reg beer (in cans) ~$20/case (1 can $ .68 cents)

Total cost---- $37.50

Volume per one batch -- (4x12oz)-----------48oz.
Cost of one batch as per recipe------------ $6.25
About 10oz, per drink = 5 drinks from one batch---- ---@ $1.25 per drink.

***************************************************

My pea brain spent a lot of time to come up with this.
I may be right-----I may be wrong! I am NOT a math person!!!

***I suggest some of you make this ahead of time and decide on how good it is.

Then we can consider making it at a swap. Have a small bucket handy for $$$ donations.

Gita

Not sure last year or the year before, we had a great time sitting on your swing. It is very relaxing in Gita's garden. I remember we had lunch at that great crab place and then over to IKEA to do some shopping. Very nice day. Ric brought you some rock to fix your raised bed?

Jamie stopped by this morning and moved the larger tropicals into place in the flower beds. He took home a large banana, butterfly bush, false sunflower, purple millet, cannas, and some ornamental grass.
Well I think it is ornamental grass, variegated sweet flag??? Japanese Acorus not entirely sure what it is very pretty doesn't get any blooms pretty sure it came from one of the swaps years ago. Never gets a flower of any kind. Anybody ID this for me?

Holly--

I remember all we did--but i wanted to post a picture of you two sitting on the swing....
That was so cute!

I checked for pictures in May--June--and July in the last 3 years--but did not
come across it. I KNOW it is there--somewhere....

I will come across it when I am NOT looking for it--- :o)

I'm thinking 2 years ago before Ric's surgery and my injury.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Holly, that's such a pretty grass.

I have variegated sweet flag, but it's floppy and not upright like yours.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Goodie...I found it! It was in July of 2013.

Here are Rick and Holly on my porch swing....the honorary seat
I give to my guests.

That was when Rick drove over to my house to saw in half a huge RR tie
and he also brought me some rocks for edging the bed after the RR tie was gone.

You both ROCK! It was so much appreciated.

Oh man those are GREAT pics!!! =)

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I believe we had a cold beer on that swing. I could have sat there all day nothing like a nice swing.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

And did Gita stand behind you two and push the swing? ;) heehee
I am embarrassed to admit that I had a hard time getting up into it; that thing is for tall people! =)
