Pineapple Tomatoes

Has anyone heard of these? How's the taste? I have a few started already, I'd just like to know what to expect :)

Hawaiian Pineapple (aka Pineapple) is a very popular variety with many gardeners. Beautiful beefsteak sized fruit with yellow and orange stripes inside and out. Taste judgments on it differ depending on if you prefer sweet tomatoes or more acidic flavored ones so taste is a very personal thing. Personally they are a bit too fruity-flavored for my old tastebuds but you may love them.

This is one that I am trying this year. I hope it is a good one.

Pineapple and Hawaiian Pineapple are two completely different varieties/

Pineapple, link below, is one of several hundred what are known as Gold/red bicolors

Pineapple and the other gold/red varieties are very fussy about weather, in a good season lucious and sweet, but the same variety grown by someone in the same garden the next season can be mealy and bland. That being said I've grown maybe 20 of these and do have my faves.

Hawaiian Pineapple is NOT a gold/red bicolor, has a completely different history/origin and I can't comment on it personally since I've never grown it.

Hope that helps,

I'm growing the Hawaiian Pineapple tomato. I can hardly wait for my tomatoes to start fruiting and ripening. Store bought tomatoes just do not have flavor.

I think it should be illegal to advertise "vine ripe " when they aren't
