Thilactrum rochebrunianum

Jackson, MO(Zone 6b)

I am not able to find seed for this Meadow Rue. Does anyone know where I can get some of this seed?
And, does anyone have experience growing this from seed?
I am wondering if the seed has to be sown very soon after it ripens since I can't find any source for it.

The seeds need a cold moist period, so the best is to winter sow them. Besides that the seeds need to be not older than 1 year.
I have seeds of the T. rochebrunianum, see http://www.seedsite.eu/product/thalictrum-rochebrunianum. You can buy them or we can trade, see http://www.seedsite.eu/articles/wishes

I've collected seed from T.r. 'Lavender Mist' in the past. Stratified them for about 30 days in the fridge. Back at room temp, they sprouted in about 10 days but can take longer than that for germination. My seed was about a year old when sown.

I found a supplier. Hazard's Greenhouse. They sell seed wholesale and retail. They are a Garden 30. I just got their seed for an out of commerce plant and it germinated in four days.

And yes, they will sell you one pack of seed! You have to open an account, but they are wonderful. I am in the middle of placing another order. Here is a link to your seed:

100 seeds for $5.45. Great germination info (hum - think I'll order some).

If you are looking for tons of the kinds of plants that are unusual cultivars, look there.

Cindy, thank you for the germination information on thalictrum. They are going into the fridge for 30 days.

You know, you can read all the articles out there, but there is nothing like the real life experiences of expert fellow gardeners!

Aww, shucks. Thanks. I think the last time I grew some from seed was 2009. I don't show that they needed light for germination (unlike some Aquilegia). Also had a note that if they don't germinate at 70 after stratifying (say, in 2 or 3 weeks), you can stick them back in the fridge. Kind of like a 30 @ 70, 30 @ 40, and then back to 70. Can't remember if that's from Tom Clothier or Deno. The babies are rather delicate.

birder - sent you a couple of Dmails about Thalictrum seeds.
