can be group 2 or 3 and do well in warmer climates. I will grow it in a tutuer, so don't need a vine that's too vigorous, just enough to cover the structure. A cultivar that is common or easy to find is preferred. (something that brushwood et al carry)

Nery, the good thing is most large flowered varieties aren't as vigorous as Jackmanii. Just use the height listed in the Brushwood description as your guide. You might want to just give them a call and ask for suggestions, as much to see about heat tolerance as height and vigor. Sounds like a nice project you've got planned!
Howdy Neal, I called brushwood and placed an order, avant garde for mar 2015 delivery was told that if I keep up with annual pruning I can avoid out of control growth. I have experience w/ vitichella Clem's so AG should be like entertaining an old friend.
I had Carnaby before but it never did well and that hurt b/c it was a pricey plant at the time
