September weather - where did summer go ?
Winter in my summer garden.
34 degree all day. Suppose to go to 28 tonight. Freeze alert is out. I covered some of my plants. Snowed all day and stuck late in the afternoon. Have almost 2" of snow. Meanwhile I am trying to finish digging an area to plant 10 new irises Schreiner is sending tomorrow.
Below are my daylily plants under a blanket of snow.

About 70 and gray sky here , for the past two days , 50 at night ,
I don't like this foretelling of weather to come ,,
It got up to 103F here at the house. 70/50 sounds wonderful.
!03 sounds a little beyond , Have to be 90 a while , before that would feel good ,,

Currently 51. High was mid 50s today. Feels good but at same time it's cold!! Tonight possible frost in areas with temps in mid 60s tomorrow then back to 70s for awhile.
Perfect garden weather today in the 60's. Was out in the gardens all day today. Preparing my plants for winter---cleaning, top dressing, weeding, etc.
Digging up a small area to plant my 10 new irises from Schreiners that will be here either Sat. or Monday. Took advantage of the sale they are having, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered this late in the season.
The question is not where did summer go, the question is, where is fall? They are calling for a high of 105F today. It didn't even cool off all that well at night. I slept with just a sheet.

Des Moines had a heavy frost this morning. We just got down to about 40 with heavy fog. High here and there was around 62. Felt good in the sun but we froze in the shade and shuddered every time a breeze hit our necks.
Summer is here and with a vengence. They are calling for a high of 108F. They must be expecting some humidity for they are calling for a heat index of 110F. It wasn't even cool this morning. It was 72F at the house before 7AM.

I'm afraid of sounding like a broken record...up to at least 90°, then rain most every other afternoon, 74° in the morning with high humidity, one storm cell last week dumped five inches just right here.
Amazing to see SNOW pic's already, what happened to the fall color first?
Same weather as Sept 10th post except no high cloud and temps 85f here. Low 90s in Honolulu. very humid. Still the same for next few days. Too hot for yard work between 11am and 3pm.
Lava still moving forward about 200 yds per day.
Currently 71. Feels good though the house was cold this morning so I dressed in too many layers. lol
Drove the roads from Mankato to Fairmont, about 60 miles, Ne to South of us.
Frost is real patchy. Some places nothing dead, others froze hard.

It was a delightful day here in NW Pennsylvania. Overnight lows in the mid 40's with patchy fog this morning and plenty of sunshine with low humidity. Rain showers moved in this evening but will be gone tomorrow morning. Plenty of sunshine forecast for the rest of the week with highs in the 60's and little chance of rain.

I detest my phone thinking it can change what I write. Even when I watch it the words get squirrely. Which milkweed is that early bloomer? BEAUTIFUL day in Green Bay. No clue abt what temp nor how strong this little breeze is, but the full Sun all day felt great.

51° Clear Lake, Iowa still this mornin, sunshine. Dropped south from St Paul side of the Twin Cities yesterday and a little blonde and I are Very Lucky to still be walking. Lane cutting when you are stopped at a traffic jam without looking behind you is a bad bad habit. I went to the far right shoulder before I got stopped, and she still almost ran into my fuel tanks under where I sit. If I rolled off that shoulder, or she hadnt gotten control of her vehicle just before hitting me...
