I bought a peace lilly and it was healthy with white stripes through some of the leaves. I transplanted it into one of those self watering pots so i know it is getting enough water from checking. I also water it through. Te top. It is in a general vegie soil. It is limp the leaves have brown tips and doesn't look healthy. What should I do?
Peace lilly limp
The pot looks too large for that size plant and you may be overwatering it so the roots may be rotting.
agreed. Overwatering is a common (well intended) mistake.
I have been watering only every few days and there is an inbuilt tray that will fill up with all the water that drains through the soil. I have checked nd this only has very little water in it...
With all due respect, the soil may still hold too much moisture and have not enough airspace to let the roots have air also. A plant that size, in that pot, indoors, I would doubt needs water added every couple days.
Pull the plant out and check the roots to make sure it is not rotting...
I had a Peace Lily for years, I got it because it was supposed to be somewhat drought tolerant and ok in the shade, which it was. I never tried it in a self-watering pot. I watered it every 5-10 days, always waiting until it dried out so pot was noticeably lighter. But I did not let it stay dry like that. It was about 6 feet from a small east window, so it got little light. It is much cooler here than where you live, and I had no air conditioner. As it got bigger and pot too big to pick up, by then I kind of knew what water it would need. The leaves drooped like yours when it stayed too wet.
Thanks, i have moved it outside and not watered and it seems to be doing abit better. Ill come back on here if this hasnt fixed it but it seems i was overwatering
Hope we've helped! Thanks for the report.
