I have a large area of scarlet milkweed. i also have the milkweed beetle which I have tried to eradicate by removing them with some success. I now find the leaves of the milkweed folded over and when opened there is a web with a very small, about 1/2 inch either worm or caterpillar, pure white ot ivory, inside. Is this is pest? If yes what is it? ty
butterfly weed or milkweed in SE Florida
Hi ty...Welcome to Dave's Garden!
Is it possible to get any pictures of the leaves and, preferably, the worm/caterpillar? It would make I.D. much easier.
Also, you might want post your question, on the Insect and Spider Identification forum. It's open to all members. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people who check that forum regularly for members with questions. The other I.D. forums are also great sources of info whether you have a question to ask or just want to learn from other members questions.
You can visit any forums without an Asterisk. Here is the link to the Insect and Spider I.D. forum to make it easier.
