Is this flowering vine diseased?

Erie, CO

I'm not sure what the name of this vine is, but about a week ago the flowers started to brown around the edges and then fall off completely. A couple of days ago the leaves began wilting.

I did fertilize the lawn about a week ago and I suppose some of it could have gotten on the vine, but I can't imagine it would be enough to do this... but maybe?

Any idea what is going on? I've attached a few pictures.

Your vine is a clematis. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but the problem could be clematis wilt.

I hope I am wrong in that diagnosis.

I agree with cottelpg, you have a clematis.

Question; when you fertilized the yard did it contain a weed killer for yard weeds such as crabgrass, dandelions, etc.? If so, you may have accidently sprayed some on the vine and this is what could be causing the "bubbling" on the leaves.

From the look of the flower, I would also say it could be insect damage. At night leaf cutter insects come out and can chew away at leaves and flowers. You may investigate insect damage by looking under the leaves and around the plant to see if you can detect or see any small insects that could be causing the damage. Look for little green worms. This would be a leaf cutter.

Just a guess on my part. Good luck.
