I want to cross Landini (the near black Asiatic hybrid) with Stargazer ( the pink Oriental hybrid). I've got pollen frozen from Landini to pollinate Stargazer, should the cross take?
Oriental x Asiatic hybrid, is it possible?
Please refer to The Lily Nook (Canada) website. Div III Interdivisional Hybrids. Yes they carry them so I guess it's possible. I didn't answer your question directly because I am not that versed in genetics. Hope I helped a little bit.
Wouldn't that make it a Longiflorum Asiatic?
They do exist. I don't see why you couldn't do it!
Red Alert is an LA. Bob Gibson of B&D Lilies said that this lily is so vigorous he can barely control it - it multiplies like mad. So I think that there is great hope for your cross.
Wow that is pretty! If anything works out you know I will post results!
Wait a minute - an LA is a Longiflorum Asiatic.
I think you are contemplating an Asiatic Oriental. Oriental Asiatic?
It's been done! An Oriental x Asiatic!

So you absolutely can do it!
(Sorry for the brain freeze earlier!)

There's also a term called "embryo rescue" used for certain lily hybrids meaning letting seed grow in pod won't always work, so well see!
