I live in Central Ohio - Zone 5. We had a late spring this year and several frosts following days of warm weather. All of my other prized maples are leafed out - except my largest ( 3 ft X 2 ft ) laceleaf. He is in a south eastern exposure shielded from the heat of the day sun. He is in 3 ton of top soil ( along with perninals ). I have had him 3 years - no fertilizer - no hardwood mulch. I used leaves to protect his roots, this spring when uncovering the roots I noticed he "uprooted" a little I am sure do to the frost and thaw. I have not done a scratch test. He has little buds - but again it's been 2 1/12- 3 weeks that everything else has leafed out. I covered his root with loose soil and have done nothing else excepts watered lightly every 2 days if there has been no rain. Is there anything else I can do ?
Thank you for your help.
