Using pre-emergent in Garden?

Dallas, TX

So far this season I am plagued with weeds. I have raised beds. Nothing was grown during winter. Last month I worked on it, turned the soil over, took out all weeds and grass. Planted seeds of beans & peas. The grass and weeds germinated long before the beans/peas and continue to germinate and grow.

I was wondering if use of "pre-emergent weed killer is OK. It will prevent the grasses and other weeds from growing. It will not affect the transplants. I don't know if it will affect the germination of large seeds like beans, peas, squashes, okra that are sowed directly in ground. Any one has experience with this.

Appreciate the information. Thanks.
