Jeremy (JaxFlaGardener) could use some cheering up

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

He gave me permission to post this. I hope all his friends here will get in touch with him. Terry, I think it would also be nice if DG sent regards, too.

Hi, Marcia. Thanks for checking in on me. I don't post on DG anymore due to following friends & family on Facebook. Despite my love and affection for gardening and the great friends I have met on DG, it just takes up too much time to try to stay current on both Facebook and DG.

I've not done much gardening for about two years due to my ongoing bout with rectal cancer, radiation and chemo in 2012 that failed, surgery on July 2, 2013 that left a huge gaping wound that is still open, requiring me to wear a wound vac 24/7, which greatly interferes with most activities. The wound care specialist doctor tells me that there is an end in sight, the surgery wound will eventually heal, but the slow progress has worn me down.

If you (or anyone else from DG) want to stay in touch through Facebook, I am Jeremy Wayne Lucas there. Several friends from Florida DG are already Facebook friends so we stay in touch that way.

Please feel free to copy and repost this message to the Florida Forum on DG. I think my membership may have actually expired. I generally now just go on DG to look up plant I.D.s in the Plant Files.

I trust all is well with you and that you are ready to burst forth in beauty in this glorious spring.

Marcia,
He has really been through a lot and I think its time I give him another cheer up call. Thanks for keeping in touch with him.

Also, hope you and hub can attend RU April 12.

Bonnie, I'm pretty sure that's the date my company will be arriving from LA. Will let you know when I'm certain one way or the other.

I'm sure Jeremy will be happy to hear from you.

OK

He sent me an email looking for some tricolored sweet potato vine.

never heard of such a plant.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

It has a leaf shape like Boston ivy, but has ivory, gray-green, and pale pink. It covered my Jax back yard about 8 years ago. If I find some I'll take pictures and send you some ivy.

He's going through so much that I'm glad he's even thinking about plants. And he maintains his great sense of humor and still helping others. He's such an admirable person.

Sidney sounds really beautiful. Is it possibly what they call camilian plant? If so it will grow in the ponds also which would be wonderful. Hope you come across some and give some to Jeremy too.

Actually looks like English instead of Boston ivy, LOL.
Brain doesn't hit on all keys at any one time.
My world has turned around and I will start a new thread about why.
Stay tuned.
I'm walking about 6" above the ground.

This is not the chameleon plant, Houttuynia, that grows in ponds but one of the many sweet potato vines that grow from a large tuber.

Thank you Ardesia. Will have to look for it when I'm at a nursery again.

I love all the sweet potato vines, they are so useful in the garden and containers. Jeremy can use them in the city where he lives but out here in the boonies, they are deer candy.

Update
Jeremy is not doing good. They have called in hospice.
He has asked if anyone in the area can help him with his garden.

I wish I could but the old body will not allow me to work in my own body

Sandy
