I am desperate to plant new shrubs on the side of my house because I already removed the ones that the deer chewed to bits. The plants need to be no more than 5'-6' tall at maturity. I think aucuba shrubs would be good if I could find the right size. What about "frost proof" gardenias? Would they get enough sun?
Thanks for helping me!

Evergreen deer resistant shade tolerant shrubs.???
Aucuba 'Rozannie' grows to 1m x 1m. Also, I think various Mahonias would be good candidates.
