Had great gardening season up here at 7700' above sea level using row covers to extend season until mid-Nov. Had persistent problem with aphid under covers. Using drip irrigation until too cold to use hoses. Ultimately used insecticidal soap on them as the infestation was heavy. Do I need to worry that eggs will over winter on row covers? Raised beds are now open to snow and cold, but worried about reinfestations.
Aphids and Row Covers
I have only had one season of aphids, and that was 3 yrs ago. I used insecticidal soap that year. Have never had any under row covers. This is the first year my two beds have been opened under snow and cold. I just believe once you have a hold on them, a good hold, you shouldn't have a big infestation. I live in central Oregon, 3600' above sea level.
