Any Hope for My Cherry Tree?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I just discovered this today. I was able to cut off the three branches with the sap running out of them - but couldn't see any holes. There is one more branch effected but I can't just cut that one off. Anything I can do for this tree? It was planted about 3 years ago.

Looks like either borrers or bacterial canker...obviously you have the gumosis typical of baterial canker. Copper applied a few times in the fall to the entire tree before leaf drop and once in the early spring can help. Remove infected areas where you can.

Dont prune tree in spring rather do it in summer or now and disinfect all cutting utensils before and after. Also do not allow bark to be damaged so do not use any tree spreaders.

Make sure soil is not too acidic or prone to standing water.

I went through a few trees that I had this problem with. With the third tree I have religiously used the copper and no problems after two years.
