I haven't got a picture, but they are blooming all over the coast here. Spiked leaves kind of like Iris. Multiple small red flowers on a spike coming up from the leaves. I figured someone here probably knows what they are, if not I'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow.
What the heck are those red flowers.....
Crocosmia is in bloom. They come in red, orange, and yellow varieties. I could tell from a picture. Crimson Flag Lily is also starting to bloom sporadically. They are much shorter, and can be pink or salmon colored.
Yes, likely crocosmia. I love that splash of orange-red, so eye-catching.
Yep, that's it, checked in the database. Thanks you guys! I think some has popped up in my yard after the blackberry slaughter; won't be blooming this year though.
You will LOVE it when it does. It needs lots of sun. Mine just bloomed this summer after an ice storm 2 winterz ago knocked down the Japanese maple that had shaded it out.
Yeah, I'm afraid mine are completely in shade right now because all the trees and bushes around them have grown like crazy. I'll have to do some pruning.....
