For once I guessed right!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I thought soybeans might be included (wrong!), so my answer was wrong! Good trivia question, regardless.

i didn't even try to hazard a guess... i had no idea.

Hanceville, AL(Zone 7a)

I guessed CA and got it wrong. Luciee {;^)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

I did guess ND - Ca has different crops- wines- and from my job I knew that Del Monte has a lot of processing areas up there. Beet sugar is also a load I grab once in awhile up there. ND has a LOT of farming operations, Mn too, but Mn is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, so fishing is better in Mn. I could NOT have named the 5 most common fish in Mn tho (grade school trivia) only 2 I knew were trout and perch...

Lake Helen, FL

I'd have thought North Dakota a little cold for your typical Phaseolus beans, and we don't eat fava beans all that much in this country. The Lower and Gulf South, of course, heavily favor Vigna, the black- eyed pea.

I thought Georgia because of peanuts, but I guess they are not beans!

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

got it right! lol

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

ND isnt cold in the summer, dry, maybe. Huge producers up there, long wide open skies that stay light til midnite, and dawn or aurora borealis as early as 3am...

North Dakota!!

NE, SD(Zone 4b)

I clicked on the link provided in the answer and it appears to me ND was the largest producer, 38%, in 2006-2008, if I read correctly. is ND still #1 in 2012?

look under the paragraph heading Major Dry Bean Growing States. it has retained its number one spot to this day or at least to 2012 when the page was last refreshed.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow.. a mere guess.. and it's right!
Fascinating.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I too guessed Georgia, also thinking of peanuts. Who knew!!!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Didn't have the slightest idea .. learn something all the time here ..

Madison, IL(Zone 6b)

I didn't vote because I couldn't even guess being in a state surrounded by soybeans and corn. Thank you North Dakota! I love beans. : )

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hmmmmm Whodda thunk it.

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

i remember years ago when my dad would go to north dakota to hunt pheasant in the bean fields in fall/winter.

I went with Georgia also because of peanuts. Live and learn...
