Japanese Maple

Anybody in central Fl. growing these? Got 1 yesterday and can't find much info.

Maybe your local extension office? I have alwlays wanted to try one so let us know how it performs please.

Japanese Maple's do live here but just hang on. I'm in zone 9a and for sure my tree would rather be in zone 8 or less .
There are some green types that love zone 9a.

We had one in a pot for years, until I accidentally let it dry out one spring : ( My suggestion is to keep it in lightly dappled shade. If possible, give it northern exposure to allow for the greatest amount of "chilling hours" in the winter. Good luck!

I bought 3 in a coop 3 years ago. One seems to be doing better this year, the second, I'm not sure. The third, long gone. These I bought were supposed to be tolerant of the Florida heat. Not having the winter cold spell certainly determines their success rate.
