Can these be started in the house as I have found mine
take so long to get started when planted out in the spring.

YES!!! I went out and bought a inexpensive litter box, it was perfect depth to just cover the bulbs...then last year I made my own newspaper pots and was able to just plant the whole thing outside when ready, saved on soil, I didn't have to fill the whole box

I think I have heard they really like heat when first getting started, so if you have a heat mat, use that. Thanks for asking this question because I now want to address mine and hope to get an early start too. Good luck and I hope they do well for you.
