mystery plant

Melbourne, FL

I live in Melbourne and bought this plant, in a buying frenzy, at the FIT plant sale last week. Was told it was a bleeding heart, I now know it isn't...can anyone tell me:
a-what it is
b-how/where to grow it

thanks so much!

Ditto…aka. Bleeding Heart Vine

Clermont, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine is growing in full son and wraps itself around a power pole and spreads like crazy. I didn't plant it there it just showed up a few years ago. Maybe was in another pot with something else I planted nearby.

i was this close to buying a 5gal bleeding heart from a nurseryman when he shot my offer down! not sure what made him, but he literally muttered "that one needs a trellis" and walked to another row of plants to show me.
i could have sworn he said "you don't want that" as well.

he also stopped me from buying any of his tibouchinas! so sad!

Actually bleeding heart vine does not require a trellis.....you could keep it trimmed as a shrub! The botanical name is: Clerodendrum thomsoniae. I have a Petrea volubilis that I have kept without a trellis for many years.
