Wanted to share this with you all - as a small thank you for the support and encouragement I have received! I hear of and speak to so many who feel SO alone, and has no support or any encouragement from neither friends nor family, and it breaks my heart!!! I have been SO blessed!
Will you be there? Oh Will you be there,
that day when it comes that I lose my hair?
To help me to turn the clippers to on,
when it comes to the time the buzz cut that I must don.
Will you be there, oh will you be there,
to offer me wax and a buff till I shine?
To tell me my baldness is not a crime?
To laugh as I wrap silly scarves round my head?
Or try on wigs that are itchy instead?
Will you be there to draw my eyebrows on straight,
when I am shaky and tired and losing some weight?
Will you offer me tea and cookies so sweet,
when you know I want nothing at all to eat?
Will you be there? Oh will you be there,
On the days when I can’t get out of bed,
or the days I can’t possibly move my own head?
Those are the days I’ll need you most,
do not desert me, don’t become a ghost.
For friendship is the best medicine that I’ve ever known,
to show you the things you need to be shown.
The things that keep you fighting, keep you battling the dread,
the thing that can win against what’s in your head…
or colon, lung or anywhere else.
Friendship, my friends, it’s good for your health.
Thank you all!
It can be heartbreaking to see different situations. You are more than welcome, dear!! I am sure you are an encouragement to whoever you meet. Blessed indeed
We are all betting on you! Lovely poem!
"friendship my friends, it's good for your health!"
Yes, indeed!
Adding my thanks to Becky's, to her and to all you folks who got me through my own fight. I just went in for my mammogram last week (I still have the one on the right, have to keep taking care of it!), and all was well. Still testing for tumor markers etc. every 3 months, and those numbers are all normal too!
I can't wait for Becky to post that she had her final scan, and there's still no sign of cancer anywhere. :-)
I wish I knew you better Becky, like so many others here do, but it sure is a pleasure to keep you in my prayers and cheer you on to VICTORY!!! Thank you for allowing me in, and to be one of your many cheerleaders.
Very lovely poem. So many people really don't have help or support to get them through these days.
Bec!! Look at your mad skills...I love it!! I will happily (as said before) buff your head whenever you like!! I LOVE your chicken fuzz!!! ^_^ Love YOU!!!
Oh, I didn't write it! I just thought it was brilliant & very true :-)
Beautiful poem!
