Replant lilies in mid November?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Up in Zone 6a.I was weeding in a new iris area and noticed the 2 inch in diameter top of a Martagone. This lily has been in the ground 5 years.
I think it grew about 20 inches last spring but frost cut any bloom short.
I had been stepping on this poor bulb for weeks.
I dug a deeper hole and fertilized it and replanted with a marker.
I hope this wont mean another summer without Mrs.O. Backhouse.

ge1836, Now that you aren't stepping on it all the time, I think it should be fine if it doesn't get hit again by a late frost. Not much that you can do about that except to try to cover it. Lily Socks? I try to plant all my lilies a bit deeper than called for, but I know that lilum "pull" themselves into the ground to the optimal depth by those contractile roots that they have. Way cool to see those accordion like structures. I like to help mother nature and assume it takes a lily bit longer to show themselves in the spring thus possibly avoiding a late frost if planted deeper. Good luck as Mrs. O. B is very lovely. I am happy to report the Backhouse Mart I replanted is knocking itself out.Wonder of wonders I believe the other 2 are coming up as well.So many lilies I wouldnt know which is wich Baruta is in the same area .My maps are some help but not as much as the constant pictures.
I am trying to find space in that area to plant 3 foxgloves.
A wedge is needed.

Here is Backhouse I count 4 shoots

So good to see those lily shoots. Even better, I think, than peony pips or tulips

DD Planted peonies last fall.I hope they come up.Do they take a few years to establish? She knows what she is doing and didnt plant too deep.

They are tough...kind of like you and me! Glad to hear. My lilies are growing like stink. I am planting a few hundred more this week just to be sure. L. Baruta is spectacular as I know you know from seeing photo's of it that you have posted. I planted 2 Baruta from the good old days of DG coops in 2009 and they have grown to be at least 7 feet tall each year. Stunning. Another serious yellow favorite in our garden is the very fragrant tall one from Buggycrazy called Lily Div. 8 Other Hybrids Georgette. Miss her more than the coops. Patti
