Colocasia esculenta advice

Cedarhome, WA(Zone 8b)

My sister gave me a started plant and I am researching where to put it. It appears it may be hardy on this side of the hill, and I am considering putting it down by my stream-fed pond. I'm concerned about invasiveness if in fact it will over-winter here. Lots of reports from Texas re don't plant, but nothing from the PNW. Has anyone had luck with this as a perennial, or is it an annual - in which case it won't matter where I put it.

I have not been able to have them return every year. I pot them and have included them into my pond and enjoy them for the season. (zone 7a former home.) I am now a 8a and should give them another try. They are very pretty and frogs love to hang out on them.

I've opted to put them in pots in the small front yard pond and see how they do. If they in fact overwinter, perhaps I'll move them to the bigger pond when they have a bit more size to them.
