This is my 1st attempt at growing pomegranate and the plant is blooming, but the blossoms are dropping off without setting any fruit; is there something I should be doing that will prevent this, or is this common for the first year?
Blossom drop on pomegranate
It is common the first few years in my area.
Thanks juju, guess they're like most fruit, you have to wait a few years before production ramps up.
Had my first few fruits from a Russian pomegranate planted 2 years ago in zone 7a! Most early blossoms were male and dropped, later in the spring it set a few fruit. i expect a lot more fruit next year as the plants grew like weeds this year. they were delicious.
