Looking for the best Nut in Zone 7?

Prosperity, SC(Zone 7b)

I am looking for something fast growing,
that produces a tasty nut to create a barrier for one side of our yard.
I have a pecan seedling, but as I understand Pecans are quite slo growing:O)
I only want 1- maybe 2 of whatever nut tree is best, is there anything that also doesn't just get tree-mendous...LOL

Mohrsville, PA(Zone 6a)

You may want to look into some hazelnuts. Some varieties will grow into a large bush form. Relatively fast growing. Depends on how tall of a barrier you want.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

I have seen a lot of sites carrying the Yellowhorn. It is supposedly very cold, heat and drought tolerant. It gets about 25 feet max if not pruned. The flowers are insane and the growth rate is supposed to be very fast.
