I would appreciate suggestions and advice regarding using Nasturtiums as colorful ground cover. Research says some varieties are perennial in mild climates like Vista, but no info on which varieties. Area gets sun about half of the day. Will plant seed if no started plants are available.
I would especially like to hear from gardeners that have had experience with them as perennials.
Thanks,
Ernie
Perrennial Naturtiums in Zone 11 ???
Not really perennials here, but they self sow enough to be invasive year round. Mine aren't blooming now, but after pulling them all out, I have a whole new crop of the trailing/climbing type. They bloom from spring to fall, but look pretty ragged by mid summer. Aphid magnets!
Carol,
Thanks for sharing the information. I will show it to Linda and see if it changes her mind. I am trying for low maintenence, but we do need some color to go with the green.
Ernie
