Things are looking up!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Let's celebrate Craigs new job with a new thread.
Congratulations!

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm very happy for you ! You certainly deserve some good news and I'll bet you sleep better tonight.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks all!

It will still be a help desk position but for company that does digital video production. The mom of a kid friend works there and she's been there quite awhile. Not exactly sure what she does.

His daily drive will go from 86 miles a day down to about 40 miles a day. Since he'll still be second shift, he should miss most of the traffic. He can pretty much take back roads all the way there. We won't find out his regular schedule until he's there two weeks.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Half the money spent for gas. :)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Yee Haw!!!!! Great News! Have a Bud for me and celebrate! Lou

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow! Good goin'! Where is this job located, Chele?

Went to see Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, part 2. I was a little lost as I hadn't seen Part 1, but DS caught me up on the plot. We went to the 3D showing, which I found more annoying than cool. However, they gave us Harry Potter style 3D glasses, which was amusing.

Off to weed, water, & mulch again.
Pat

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Wish I had a Bud! LOL

He'll be working in Wilmington.

I've not done hardly anything in 2 days. I don't feel good. :(

South Point, OH(Zone 6a)

We are so happy for you, this has to be way better than Kroger. I couldn't believe they could treat good employees like they did. Looks like things are starting to look up.

Now take it easy and remember you are not superwoman. Your health is also important.

Not done praying yet,
Esther

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you Esther. Hopefully it's just a summer cold. I feel achy and have a cough and a bit of a fever or feel clammy if I take something. I felt fine yesterday aside from the tickly cough. I haven't felt right since the night the electric went out. Probably something new blooming outside and I didn't notice. Maybe it's just allergies.

The Kroger job served it's purpose. I'm not sure they wanted to hire him for it anyway but couldn't pass him up. All they kept saying is that he was overqualified and would be bored. He was. But he was still a/the top performer without even stressing over it. Their policy is way too strict. No way we could have afforded a plumber, taxi and tow truck on what they paid, yet no allowance for emergencies. At least he has 4 new tires now...even if the timing was awful.

The new job, being closer should be better in a lot of ways. Hopefully he can hold on to it.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Great news Chele. Evidently prayers said over this situation and sensible people who did the interview opened the door for him. Congrats. I will forego the beer, someone else can drink it for me, but will toast with my iced tea.

Had a very busy day. Got mulch put down in the front bed, then went to the church and helped DH finish the landscaping he was doing there, then came home and weeded my little shade garden, and around the swimming pool. Wasn't too hot out, but I came in about 1:00 and had a sandwich, and I was wiped out for the afternoon.

Chele, sorry that you are not feeling well. I have not been up to par for a few days either. Seems I am just so tiried, and every time I sit down, I fall asleep. So, you pray for me, and I will pray for you!

Pat, I don't do those kind of movies. Started reading the first book that came out, and it is one of the few that I put down without finishing. Just not my cup of tea.

Herman, my Hals Pink doesn't seem to be going to bloom this year. Probably a little transplant shock, although I don't think I have had any transplanted that late failed to bloom.

Chele probably don't have to say it, but sleep well tonight. You guys need a celebration.

Barberton, OH

Most of my ambition is in my mind. The body doesn't want to cooperate. I sit to rest for 10 minutes and wake up a half hour later. Have to break out the shovel and hoe to clean up this dump. #3 DD is coming Wed nite to drive me to GD's wedding In Elgin on Sat. She will spend Thu here and we will drive out on Fri, back Sun or Mon.

I have pineapple soda. LOL

The prayers have to have helped! Little by little it has gotten better. I wasn't sure three years ago that we'd ever climb out of this hole. Right now I'm happy if we can just hang on to the edge and not fall back in.

I've been very tired too. Maybe it's the weather or the allergies hitting both of us! Now that it's cool again, I'm sleeping well. But for whatever reason, I just haven't been real motivated the last couple of days. I need to do a few things that I just can't do right now and that is pretty frustrating.

It's been a rough 5 days, that is for sure. Maybe tomorrow I can wake up and feel relieved and get back to it!

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!

The other cat likes to watch the BR window to see when I get up. She has a bad hind leg from being hit crossing the road,

That is funny Herman!

I was talking to a friend of mine about Miscanthus. I was telling her how it commonly dies out in the center (like your Ex's.). She tells me how theirs has been there a few years and they never had that problem. Then they notice that one of their cats is missing quite a bit of every day and then they finally realize why and where. Seems their Miscanthus did die out in the center and that is where the cat liked to nap. hahaha

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Crazy cats!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Thank God he got the job, wonderful news.. Hope you are feeling better. Still praying.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you. It is very much appreciated.

I'm going to bed early and hope I wake up on the happy, good mood, productive side of the bed tomorrow! The alternative is jumping out the window into a shrub....LOL

Night!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Speaking of cats, the cat that spent the winter in our house, had 4 cute little kittens yesterday. She crawled into her little cube thing on the back porch & made it a nursery.

That is too cute Bernie!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

well I'm thrilled to hear there are still jobs in ohio. will continue to pray for you both to continue on the road to success.

DH tried for 2 years to get employment and I for 1 year, nothing... I guess our ages were hurting us. Now I'm employed down here in my home state and it sure is wonderful to be working again.

Take care of youself.

Jan

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you Jan.

The first time around, hubby went 31 months without a job. He was let go from his job in April of 2008 and it was November of 2010 before he went back to work. He did finally get a part time job at the local dollar store at the end of that period but it certainly wasn't enough to live on. He still works there one day a week. Being that he has a college education and professional work experience, he pretty much gets passed over for anything not requiring the same as they say he's over qualified. It's really been a mess!

I'm glad that you are back home and so much happier there. :)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Been away from home all day, so nothing to report except I am tired. I am in class one day a month for 5 months, but have homework and assignments to be completed and sent online. This will probably mean that I will have work to do on that every day of the week. I thought the meeting 5 days for this course was too good to be true, and it is!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

What are you going to be when you grow up??

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Maybe I will decide after I finish school!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Good luck!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Bonnie, what did I miss? What are you taking classes for?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm tired and shouldn't be! I don't mind heat but does it have to be so muggy?

Spent a few hours at the ER last night. Kristenne said her back hurt so bad that she couldn't lay down and get comfortable. And she had pain coming and going at the top of her stomach. Three hours later we knew little more than we did when we arrived. Judging by the pain, we thought it might be a kidney infection. Urine, blood and x-rays came back clear. They thought it might be her pancreas and ruled that out. They gave her Mylanta with Lidocaine to see if it was indigestion, then a Vicodin for the pain in her back, then 2 Nexium on the way out the door. You know want anything bad to be wrong but getting no answer is frustrating! They said it might be her gall bladder or something else, that just isn't bad enough to show up yet. Geesh.

Guess I need to figure out what I'm going to get into today. I'm sure it's going to involve a hose and a swimming pool. LOL

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Chele, so sorry that Christine is in so much pain. Is it better today? Hope you get some answers if it continues.

While we were in church had a hard rain, but on the way home could tell that there was less and less moisture, so yep, when we got home, looked like just some sprinkles. Not what we needed but guess I need to be grateful for that.

Chele and Melissa, I signed up for a course in the Lay Academy of Church Excellence. Thought it was a five hour course, but it turns out, we only meet 5 times, but there are daily assignmnets which have to be completed and turned in on a weekly basis, most online. The times we meet are exams on the material we have covered so far. yesterday's session was just an outline and introduction to the course. This enables me to hold a lay minister certification, and a position in the church as an apprentice minister. Guess I need to read closer to descriptions of the courses!

DH says I do enough preaching right now without a certificate that enables me to!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

You go Bonnie! I'm proud of you. Nothing wrong with that!

Kristenne said she feels a little bit better but she only made it from the bed to the couch. She usually does a lot around here. Maybe she's just on strike. LOL In the least, due to the Vicodin, she probably got a good night of sleep!

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Way to go ,Bonnie! That's great. It will keep you busy and out of trouble for awhile, anyway.LOL

Chelle, I sure hope Kristeene is better. How scary! Keep an eye on her for awhile. The pain meds may be masking something more. It could be something that never happens again.

The weather is supposed to be yucky all week. It's hot and humid today, but for tomorrow and until Friday , the weather channel says we'll be in a heat emergency state. Great. I guess I'll read a lot this week and let the deadheading and weeding really get behind. Enjoy the day everyone. Lou

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I have no intention of preaching. However I do lead the Bible studies, and feel that this will help me to better understand things more in depth.

Lou, the weather forecast here sounds about like yours. Although we are not in a heat emergency, yet. Seems looking at the weather map it is mostly the northern states. Bernie may be having the heat emergency too this week.

Chele, sounds like the pain meds have made Christine a little woozy and she is more relaxed. It could have been something that will not rear it's ugly head ever again. However, something like that is certainly scary for you and especially for her.

Just got word that DH's nephew and his son were struck by lightening, during a thunderstorm near here. No other details but that the local hospital transferred the son to children's in Louisville and his father (DH's nephew) to another hospital. Seems the little boy is the worst off. So keep them in your prayers.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Bonnie, we'll certainly keep your nephews in thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Any news Bonnie?

Craig just went for his drug test and to fill out a ream of paperwork. LOL He found out that he will get paid weekly, which is good! The first week, he only works 4 days and will get paid the 5th. He also found out that they charge for the drug test, background check and his badge which comes out of the first check. Grrr. The good news is that he has a job and if we can get through the next two weeks, it should be smooth sailing.

Kristenne still doesn't feel good. She was up at 4 but didn't need to be up until 6. She was supposed to babysit today but the Mom called and said the Dad is home today as he wounded himself acting like a teenager. hahaha So Kristenne get the day off, probably a good thing. She said both her belly and back hurt this morning and by 9:30, it was just her upper stomach. She went back to bed. I'll probably have to take her to the doctor but don't want to wake her up to see how bad she feels. sigh. I'm starting to wonder if she has a gall stone or something. I'm thinking an actual gall bladder problem would have shown up in the x-ray? May have to see if they can do an ultrasound to figure out what is going on. She's thin so they should be able to see something I'd think.

Not sure what I'm doing today. Craig is on the way home. I'm afraid to go get dirty until I see what Kristenne wants to do. Carly has basketball from noon-2:30 but Craig will be home the rest of the day.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

so sorry to hear about the lightening events, will add them to prayer list. Keep us posted.

it is too bad they don't reimburse him after his 90 days on the drug and background checks, have him ask if they do after the 90.

Jan

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

If they hire him after the 90 days, we'll call it even. LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

It's soooooo hot! Haven't accomplished a thing! Floated in the pool and played with the kids then knocked Nolan out for a nap.

Water heater is down. Craig has been trying to drain it all afternoon. Battery died in the laptop, leaving 8 of us fighting for my computer. Oh yay.

Guess I'm going to have to figure out what I can do without dying or get back in the pool. LOL

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Hot here too, 93º with 86º humidity, making heat index 117º. No wind.
Hiding in the house all afternoon.
Tomorrow looks the same. If it's this hot tomorrow, we are not going to market.
No pool here.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well the pool is up, filled and circulating but no filter yet. We don't run the air so we don't have other options. I did get the kids to run around earlier and clean up so they could swim. LOL

If I were you and it is that hot, I'd stay in the house too! Get yourself one of those Easy Set pools. They are quick, easy and quite nice! We had one for years. You can get one small enough to just sit in, all the way up to way huge!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, got a call from DH's sister today and go the real scoop on the lightening event. The child was released from the hospital today, and seems to be doing well. The father got the brunt of the strike. He has both ear drums bursted, and the tip of one finger completely missing up to the first joint. Dr's surmise that is where the lightening exited his body. Has burns all over his body, and is so stiff and sore that he is barely able to get on his feet. The good news is that other than the finger and ear drums, no other permanent damage. They are having a specialist see him tomorrow and determine if there is anything that can be done for the ears/hearing. She said they are already talking Cochlear implant, so will not know about that for a few days. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I had errands to do this morning, and I didn't get home until almost noon. By then it was so hot decided that I didn't need to be out in the heat. DH brought in a 2 gallon bucket of green beans and I prepared them, and cooked some for supper, and have the rest to deal with tomorrow. I have been so cranky today, that I haven't even liked myself. So unusual for me, but I think the heat is getting to me, plus not sleeping well for the past few nights.

Chele, gallbladder problems do not necessarily show up on a regular xray. Usually a dye is needed to highlight it, and since they didn't suggest that, I am thinking they are not leaning in that direction. A CT scan would definitely show stones, but it may be a case where it is not well defined stones, but sort of a "slush" and if that is the case, it will resolve itself, but not without some discomfort.

Chele we are having electricity issues to the pump in our pool. DH hit the buried electrical wire this spring when he was tilling up the yard so that he could sow grass seed, and it has been an iffy connection all spring, and the wires finally burnt into. DH is such a procrastinator that I am thinking it will be awhile before it is fixed. Part of my mood today, among other things. Things needing doing around here, and he acts like we don't have a dime to make repairs. We aren't rich, but you can't let needed repairs go without it compounding the matter. Grrr.

Seems like I need to ask for t & p's for me and my mood!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Bonnie, it's a miracle that either of them is alive. It's hard to say they were fortunate as they were hit by lightning but they are lucky to be alive to tell about it. I hope the father is okay and getting good medical care.

We are seriously leaning toward gall stones. I've had to ride her butt to eat and drink all day. She said it makes her feel sick. I told her to avoid greasy stuff and stick to more bland stuff and that seems to be sitting okay. She's a little freaked out by the hospital bit but I told her they use a sonogram or dye test to check that and not to panic. Her back does not seem to bother her now but her stomach still hurts. We'll see how she's doing tomorrow. I think I've scared her a bit with the dehydration bit. It's too hot NOT to drink!!

Tell hubby not to mess with electric especially when it goes to a water source. You've already got the money invested in the pool. No sense to lose it over $100 worth of electric! Was that the same accident that took out the electric to the greenhouse/shed?

I'll keep you in thoughts and prayers for a good mood. :) We're going to have to deal with the heat I think. It's only July. bleck.

A few of the kids and I just took a quick swim and ended it when the lightning was flashing. grrr.
