Is this a Chusan palm? Its grown on its own in woodland in what used to be the grounds of a long since demolished mansion, it looked much the same about 23 years ago when I first saw it so must be over 50 years old at least, its about 20-25 ft high, overshadowed now by the hardwood trees that have grown up around it. Its in the UK so must be a hardy species, winters see some snow and the odd prolonged freezing spell.
