Celeste.. hope you have a wonderful day!!!... a special day for a special lady!!
Happy Birthday Pixie62560!!
Thanks Allison!
enjoy it!!
I'm going to try! ^_^
I hope you don't mind but since this is my B-Day thread...i'd like to share something with everyone.
Most everyone here knows about my specail son Justin. If you know anyone like Justin or me who is there care taker, then you know it can be hard living/caring for a special needs person. You also learn quickly that society is not always nice and they do not acknowledge/embrace people like Justin on a regular basis. So for my birthday I would like to share a beautiful little story my niece sent me about a blue rose. After reading this story, if you have never met a blue rose and do chance upon one, please take the time to see their gentle beauty. They are rare amongest us for a reason. ^_^
A Blue Rose
Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the
store for her to get some needed items, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags,
detergent and Clorox. So off I went.
I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter,
only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old. I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, "Mommy, I'm over here."
It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?"
"My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly.
"Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve."
"Steve, like Stevarino?" he asked. "Yes," I answered. "How old are you Denny?"
"How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle.
"You're fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by."
I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section.
Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him.
I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God's Garden; however, "Blue Roses" are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God.
She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?"
Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God's garden."
She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, "God bless you!" and then I had tears in my eyes.
May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, don't turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say Hello. Why? Because, by the grace of GOD, this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family.
From an old dandelion! Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
aaawww.. always nice to hear a story like that
Thank you Pirl, it is a pleasure to know you and Jack also. That JI is simply stunning! Thank you !!!!!!
Whenever I see blue flowers I think of you.
I do find it very amusing that, both being gardeners, we've met twice...in Maine...in February.
Are you saying it's my turn to come to N.Y.? It won't be in Feb!! LOL
Funny, Pixie! No, I wouldn't expect you to come here in February. South Portland has much better shopping than our area anyhow.
Happy Birthday and thank you for that story. Enjoy your clams!
Happy Birthday Celeste!
(...with my luck, the child starts crying when I say hello, the mother comes running and asks what am I doing bothering the kid, a crowd gathers, the store security team has me under surveillance and sends out the troops, while I'm trying to explain I was only saying hello they escort me to a back room, call the police and I end up in a fix and a half! )
- but it was a nice story anyway pixie! (lol!)
You are funny, WC!
Great photo! Thought you'd post a Blue Moon photo for Celeste.
Look out for flying pigs!
Blue flying pigs just for Celeste.
Believe it or not I got a pic of one of those too Victor! (lol!)
Thank you Ronnie! Love the Blue Rose :)

Blue Flying Pigs....out with the pink in with the blue? Sounds good to me!!
Got a cake from DGD's Oryanna(3) and Isabella(2)...they helped make it and was very proud too. Oryanna announce's just before I eat a bite that: "if you find any egg shells it's my fault" . I almost peed my pants laughing....it's been a great birthday so far!
Have a wonderful birthday! Beautiful story thanks for sharing it. I've a beautiful blue-rosed Godson :) Hope you had a little ray of sunshine today. We had about 10 minutes in Ogunquit. Looks like tomorrow might be a great gardening day though!
Sue
Thanks Sue! No sunshine but it did stop raining...good enough!
Happy Birthday to a fabulous friend and a wonderful Mom!! You are an angel, Celeste, and you deserve the happiest of days doing anything you want to do! Oh, how very nice! Let me know how you like the weedwhacker....I need a new one, & it has to be light....
Same here...Brians is too heavy for me and sometimes I like the way I weed wack a certain flower bed better than him .....less buds missing. :)
HeeHee.....
I'd like to know how you like it, too, Celeste. I hate how the new edging guy does it and it's tiresome to do with a scissors (and I drive myself crazy).
Thanks Jen, and yes you got me on FB too:)
I hope to get to try out the WW today or tomorrow, looks like im finally getting something besides clouds and rain!

Thanks Bill & Memory! Nice little sedums you got there!
I've been trying to remember...and if my memory has not completely left me with this meno-pause crap...... then IrisMA Anniversary was the same day as my B-day. If my memory is wrong...then it's today. But I don't think my memory is all that bad so......
HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY IRISMA AND HUBBY!!!
(if you see this, would you be so kind to reply and let me know just how bad my memory is so i can seek help if need be. ^_^)
