Plant ID Help Needed

Washington Crossing,, United States

New to this forum. We have a perennial which blooms in May, 4-6 inches tall, red flowers with 5 star-shaped petals. Here is a photo of this plant type at Morris Arboretum. (They were re-planting this bed, so the Veronica spicata on the plant label is not correct).

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Mid Atlantic forum Stick around and get to know this diverse group. Have you visited Morton often? Lovely place.

Could your plant be a form of Silene virginica?

I think you may have it. Red petals are pointed with a star tip as in S regia or S virginica. See DG's page here also

First trip to Morris Arboretum. Certainly will return.

Thanks
