how deep to plant lily bulb scales?

I have some lily bulb scales that have started to sprout. How deep do I plant them?

Scale bulbs sprouting... with one leaf? I'd plant the bulb about an inch deep, making sure that anything green remains above soil level. The contractile roots at the bottom of the bulb will pull them deeper as they mature. Are you potting them up?

Perhaps others will chime in with advice.

its the part of the bulb. the bulb is made of scales.
