I have a 'weed' growing in my front lawn and noticed bright red berries on it this week. This looks like a miniature strawberry plant. Is this something that grows wild, or did I accidentally drop strawberry seeds by my front porch? The birds are not touching them, which makes me wonder whether they are edible. I'm on Tomball, TX, north of Houston.
Wild strawberries?
I'm pretty sure that's a Mock Strawberry: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2018/, although we've always called them snake berries around here, where they're weeds. :) As far as I know, they're tasteless and inedible.
