Here's what I found on a stroll through my mid-march woodland.
Mother nature is stirring...
First up is coryladlis solida Dietier Schacht

Here's a purple corydalis, I'm not sure if c. solida transylvanica or decipiens.

This is pachyphragma macrophylla

Pachysandra procumbens

Cardamine heptaphylla

Anemone blanda

And finally, a hellebore.
Things happen so quickly in spring, it's hard to keep up.
Hope things are beginning to happen in your neck of the woods too!

Just beautiful! Do you plant all these or are they native wild plants?

I discoverd this.Not wild but blooming.My coridilis is starting. Squirrls have dug a bulb ant its shooting green. My Anemone blanda will be out in about 4 weeks.

Bariolio, I've been planting in my woodland for years.
Most of my property is densely wooded, so my gardening is fairly confined to the woods.
I've got plenty of natives, too. They're starting just now also, including bloodroot (just starting to bloom), trillium, mayapples are just pushing up, celandine poppies and virginia bluebells are both coming up everywhere, but not blooming yet.

i planted several bloodroot and they did not come up
i guess they are not compatible with my wooded area :-( too much shade ?
but have noticed some of the natives are starting to poke their noses up
just haven't been able to take picts because of all of the rain

Weerobin your woods garden sounds special

Dick, my sanguinaria thrive in dense shade. Mine seem to like poor soil, even with lots of root competition from trees. Here's a spread of them just along my driveway. It's a stretch of poor unamended soil without supplemental irrigation. These showed up on their own.

Here's a curiosity - a bloodroot I bought a few years ago, I don't remember where.
It's supposedly pink. It flowered the first time this year - you can see, it's a bit of a stretch to call it pink.

My scillas are just starting. This is from yesterday.

Puschkinias just starting to unfold - not quite fully open yet.

A double flowering hepatica. My 'regular' hepaticas aren't stirring yet,
but my double is already up and at 'em.

And finally, my CUTE little trillium pusillum.
He's easy to overlook, since he's so small.
I have him right next to the path, so I don't lose track of him.

Ok, Weerobin, what I want to know is if we bring the food, when can we come visit and get a tour?!! You have an awesome array of flowers. Great job! I'll take some time to look some of these up and see if they'll grow in the shade in Houston.

Since my yard is so heavily wooded, this is the peak of my season.
Woodland wildflowers tend to bloom early spring.
So every stroll through the yard this time of year is like a trip to Disneyland!

Things happen quickly this time of year for me.
Here are some epimediums in full bloom.
These are epimedium brachyrrhizum - they are the first to bloom for me every year.

Here is the same puschkinia as pictured above - just one day later.

Lots of other things just popping up here and there.
You have to be careful not to blink - you might miss something!
