Here's a closer pic of bloom on Jaco's Gem. It's a bit odd, but I thought it was very pretty when I had it.

Thanks, Lynn. That pic is of blooms on my Aeschynanthus 'mona lisa' cuttings I bought back in November. I love how DG shows the details . . . you can see the little "hairs" on the blossom. Cool!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Jaco's Gem was nice. The plant I had didn't last long after I got the one bloom from it . . .

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Beautiful Plant Jan.

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

I love the pictures. I happened to get the plant on the first picture in the thread today at Home Depot.

Wow....nobody around here ever has Aeschynanthus. Great find!

Lynn

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I'll take a look at my Home Depot or Lowe's next time I go. But, I think my chances are alot lower of finding any Aeschynanthus here than Roly0217 . . . florida probably has alot more tropical-ish plants.

Roly0217 - did your Aeschynanthus come with a tag, or is it nameless?

No tag other than Foliage house plant. I was definetely looking for a cultivar name but couldn't find a tag that said anything with regards to the plant.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

maybe we can narrow it down a bit once it starts blooming . . . .

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Roly
,Can you take a closer picture of the blooms?

It looks like the one he has has plenty of calyces - the blooms will come out thru the middle of those . . . kinda makes it look like lipstick, which is why it is nicknamed the lipstick plant. According to Violet Barn, the blooms can vary from yellow to orange to red.

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

Well it does have one bloom already.

Our home depot carries them frequently, as well as some other nice gessies on occasion. They often carry varities of nice hoyas as well--you've gotta hit them on delivery day though.

Montgomery, AL

Speaking of Aescananthus.... I picked this up at Lowes. Does anyone know who it could be? Red flowers with yellow inside that is spotted in red.
