Spring is emerging?

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

Does any one else have things putting out new life? I took a walk around this morning and saw the tulips and dafodill's and other spring bulbs are coming up strong. The rose's , hydrangea's, Clem's, are all putting out new growth. The day lily's are trying to poke out. This a good sign I hope.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

Oh, YES!!! What will bloom any day now are the forsythias and Pieris--the forsythias are swollen big-time, and the Pieris's panicles of pearls will turn white soon. I love this shrub since it blooms so early and the flowers look like strings of pears.

Also, in the successiion of Spring, daffodils and tulips are emergiing. The tulips are the single late and don't bloom till April, but the daffs will probably be in bloom around St. Patrick's day.

I also have some heather in bloom on a bank out back. They've been blooming since January.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

And yes, onion grass is making headway. Bummer.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

My Wintersweet Shrub is in it's full bloom at thuis time.
The blooms atr tiny and come right from the leafless stems.
Leves come much later....

I have posted quite a few pictures of this Shrub in PF.
Please take a look....Gita

I have never seen a black pussy willow. Mine I guess is the regular one. Does that one root as well from cuttings as mine did?

I

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes they root very easily and I should have some rooted cuttings at the next plant swap. I took a few to the seed swap and they went fast. They are even prettier when the catkins are covered with pollen.

Yeah my backyard is being overrun by chickweed!!! Should I just bulldoze the whole thing???

I was surprised by very fat green buds on lilac bush today

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I know Sallyg, I am so amazed at all the new growth coming on. I hope I get a chance to trim what needs triming and mulch what needs it, before they put out all the way...lol I think they are all in a hurry to have spring come as we are..lol

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Me, too, MK. I still ahve some places to clear out and the growth is coming on. Forsythia is very fat. I'm so looking forward to the spring show after all the snow cover we had this year.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I cut some forsythia branches today and brought them inside. I have spring bulbs coming up every where but only the crocus blooming so far. I cleaned one of my beds today.

Holly, Is the red leaves in the picture Bergenia (pigsqueak) ?
I took a short yard walk after I took the kitchen scrap bucket to the compost. Ground is still frozen and some snow still remains. I notices that my Pulmonaria near the basement window to ready to put out new growth. Snow drops are still in tight bud, way to cold to open. I saw more daffodil shoots and my early crocus are still under snow.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

That is Pink Drangonfly Bergenia. I have two of them in that bed but only one of them is doing well. It is twice the size of the other.

Right now I can see it is in full sun, does that area get more shade in the summer? I have a few that have been struggling too, but they are in a very shady spot.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

The one that is struggling probably gets a little less sun than the other, might be shaded late afternoon by the clematis. But both of them are pretty much full sun.

Thanks, Holly I be thinking of another spot that gets some sun.

I found an old garden catalog today--from 2007. Hope you check it out.
Lots of cute garden craft ideas in it--stuff someone handy could make---
general garden accessories--as well as some real plants...Neat stuff!...

The catalog is called---"Gardeners Supply Company"----
The Website is: http://www.gardeners.com Take a look!

FlowAjen--There were some things in there that made me think of you and
your fancy Faerie Garden.

I just looked! Oh, my God! I can just see many of you drooling!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Yup - spring is springing at my house as well - leaves on my "Aunt Erna" lilac (thanks Jill) - I see lots of new growth emerging in the backyard and now I need to start battling with Samson on who's backyard it is!!! He is convinced he can dig, rip & eat whatever he can find - I'm having to convince him otherwise! We also saw a Robin at the feeder, so I'm convinced - spring has sprung!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Spring is NOT just emerging--but in full swing at he annual "Home and Garden" show
at he Timmonium Fairgrounds. I spent 3 hours meandering through it all.
Have to say--about 3/4 of it was on the "commercial" side.....All kinds of
Home improvements, windows, roofing, you name it! Bah-Humbug---MY opinion!
Can't afford any of it!

But--the Nurseries and Crafts exhibits were lovely! So colorful and creative!
Flowers everywhere!!!!

SO! To put you in the mood for Spring--allow me to share some photos of this
Show. It started today--march 5th and 6th--and will also run both days next weekend.

Say "AHHHHHH!".....

Primroses....
