Join me for a week in New Zealand!

North Fork, CA(Zone 7b)

I just returned from a welcome visit to my sister in NZ and am sharing a week of posts and photos on my blog, Sierra Foothill Garden, this week. Join me for a nice winter-time visit to sunny NZ, where I'll tell about the gardens, temperate rainforests and native plants I saw.

This was a change for me since I live in the rainy snowy mountains of the California Sierras. Come along, will you? NZ Week http://wp.me/p10S9N-mx

great pics, looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip.
I will be in Marlborough at Easter time for the Omaka Airshow.
Might just have to look into some of the places you mention.

I'm glad you like the photos. My brother in law goes to that airshow and the photos he's taken are fabulous! You might like to try Morgan Hill Nursery in Blenheim...they sell native plants in root trainers on the cheap. I will be mentioning them in Thursdays post on Nelson as they were there at the Farmer's Market.

Thanks, everyone! Today's post is on the wonderful exotic birds we saw there. It's amazing how musical there calls are. Many folks in NZ are encoraging more birds to their gardens by planting the natives that the birds live in and feed on. There is a program in Marlborough Valley called 'Tui to Town'. Is that cute or what? Tuis are very musical birds that live where NZ flax is grown.
