"My name is Sue Langley. In October of 2000, my husband and I bought seven acres of land in the Sierra Foothills of California, located just below Yosemite National Park. This began a new adventure for us and, as a couple of city kids, we sure got an education about country life.
We had vacationed at Bass Lake, near Oakhurst, with the family for several years and now with the kids soon to be on their own, we were thinking about our retirement and a huge change in lifestyle.
As a lifelong gardener, I was excited about the idea of gardening in this new location. The surroundings were wild and scenic, with a mountain rising high above the sloped property, filled with scrub oaks and Ponderosa pines.
On my blog is the story of my new garden, started from scratch, in (Sunset) Zone 7, with the help of my Sunset Garden book, a stack of clipped out magazine articles, the neighbors and the local garden club. And of course, there is experience, new experience!
